Huskies in Orangeville
The Huskies 05 AA team is participating in the AA Early Bird tournament in Orangeville, ON.
So far, there have been mixed results for the boys in the tournament. The first game against Aurora was an eye opener for the team, and they now know what level of performance is required to compete with other teams in the AA leagues. Although the score was close, mostly the boys were second to the puck and not able to win the one on one battles.
The second game against Orangeville was a much better effort. Everyone worked hard and lifted their levels of competition. The team won game two convincingly. Congratulations to Sebastien S. for his hat trick goals. The sweaty heads in the change room after the game proved that they all worked hard for the win.
The third game on Saturday against Vaughn was by far the toughest challenge of the tournament. Vaughn is pretty much walking all over the competition. However the boys stepped up to the challenge and played tough. Probably their best effort of the year, they played step for step with Vaughn. Although eventually the result was a loss, the game was very close, the boys played as a team and should feel good about their performance.
Heading into game four of the tournament, the Huskies needed a win to have a chance of advancing to the playoffs. Although the team played a solid fourth game against the team from Centre Wellington, all that they could pull off was a tie. The tournament ended for the boys, and all that was left was a long ride home.
All in all, a pretty good first tournament for the Huskies. Although they did not advance, they kept all of the games close and were competitive with the teams in their AA division.
