BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO PEEWEE MD WHITE AS THEY PULL MAJOR UPSET AT DAN PULHAM TOURNAMENT

The Huskies went into the tournament with the best of intentions but just couldn’t find the momentum they needed until…

The team went three losses in the round robin, two of the games very close, pulling them through to the semi final round on a goal differential, helped by the excellent goaltending for the weekend. The boys struggled to find their momentum, each time returning to the room to regroup but just missing the mark. The families returned to the hotel to enjoy a potluck dinner, hoping this would be the refresher the team needed to get its focus back. The boys enjoyed some time together and vowed to hit the ice as the team they know they are.

The 8:15 pm semi final game had everyone nervous with it being so late. They would again face the London Bandits Black, the same team that dumped them 4-1 in the round robin. Things started off solid, both teams answering back 11 shots each through the second. Unfortunately for the heavily favored London Black, the Huskies were able to make the shots count, potting three goals before the start of the 3rd period. The Huskies went on to defeat the London Bandits Black 4-0, leaving the crowd in awe.

The semi-final win matched the team up against the North London Nationals for the championship. The Huskies had dropped a 1-0 decision to this team in round robin, even though they had outshot them 12-7. The game was very close, back and forth, shot for shot through the second period and into the third, when suddenly the Huskies were able to put the bite on the London team, scoring a beautiful goal on the hands of Jacob ‘T-Bone’ Ban. From there on it was catch-up on the part of London, who just couldn’t find an open piece of the net, they ended up outshooting the Huskies 16-14.

Hayden Hope, who as one parent said, stood on his head and spit nickels was awarded the MVP to wild cheers from both teams. The boys were also very happy to have their full roster back from injury reserve and are ready to hit the ice and take names going into December.
