After a tight game against Chatham-Kent during Saturday’s regular home
match, Hamilton laced up once more that evening to host Finland during a
holiday break that, with the World Junior Championship in town, continues to have international hockey on every Canadian’s mind and lips. After an exchange of gifts at centre ice, both squads delivered a fast-paced game of high caliber that entertained home fans and visitors in an arena packed with onlookers. While it was Finland who would light the lamp with the only goal in the first period, the game in its entirety provided 45 stop-time minutes of nail-biting excitement, agility and speed, and countless chances on both ends.
As the Huskies put the ICE-ing on this holiday break, we can be assured that Canadian pride is further inspired as Team Canada takes on Slovakia in the IIHF semi-finals tonight.
