Hamilton Huskies Coach Development Seminars
The Hamilton Huskies are hosting two Professional Development Seminars for Huskies coaches early in the 2012-13 season. Steve Spott, Head Coach and General Manager of the Kitchener Rangers will be the featured speaker at the September 30th event and Don McKee of Hockey Canada's Coach Committee will be the keynote speaker on November 4th.

Steve Spott joined the Kitchener Rangers as an assistant coach moving over from the Plymouth Whalers with Peter DeBoer in 2001-02. He took over as Head Coach & GM of the Rangers prior to the 2008-09 season.
Steve has also coached within Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence winning gold last year as Head Coach of the Canadian U 18 team. His most recent challenge is to guide our Canadian National Junior team in this year's World Junior Championship being hosted by Russia.
Prior to coaching Steve played 4 years at Colgate University and followed that with a few years in Minor Pro and Europe.
Steve will speak to Yearly Planning by sharing his upcoming Seasonal Plan and tying it in with Player Skill Development.

Don McKee has a diverse coaching background most recently spending six years in the Central Hockey League in Texas. Don coached in the Ontario Major Junior ranks as Head Coach of the Kitchener Rangers and Guelph Platers before coaching Waterloo Warriors to 13 consecutive playoff appearances in Canadian University Hockey. Don has also coached on the international scene in the British Superleague and was an assistant coach with the Canadian Men's National team winning gold at the Spengler Cup in 1997.
Don is a Level IV NCCP certified coach and a lifelong educator. Don possesses a strong developmnet bias and served as Chairman of Hockey Canada's Coaching Committee from 1996-98. He was presented with Hockey Canada's Gordon Juckes Award for Development in Canadian Hockey in 1998. Don remainins an actice member of the Coaching Committee being a key contributor to all coach development programs offered by Hockey Canada.
Don will speak to Bench Management and touch on Ethical Decisions and how this relates to Bench Management.

Both sessions will be held at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel on Upper James St. with a continental breakfast available at 8:00 am.  Presentations to begin at 8:45 am.
