Hamilton Huskies 2016 Hall of Fame Inductees Announced

The Hamilton Huskies announced the 2016 Hall of Fame Inductees at a Press Conference Monday morning.
The following four categories and inductees will celebrate and receive their awards at the Hall of Fame Dinner on June 17th.

Player Category: Steve Staios
Builder Category: Bob Nichols
Hamilton Hockey Award: Pat Quinn
Team Category: The 1981-82 Bantam AAAs

As well the Hamilton Huskies will recognize individuals from the past season by presenting Coach / Manager and Referee of the Year Awards.

Hamilton Huskies Coach of the Year:

AAA/AA – Chris Travale

MD – Jason MacLean

 

Hamilton Huskies Manager of the Year:

AAA/AA – Connie Boffa

MD – John Maskell

 

Referee of the Year:

Trevor Donaldson

Drafted in the 2nd Round 27th overall in 1991
Played in 1001 NHL games
Hired by Toronto Maple Leafs as Player Development Coach / Assistant Coach
Returned home to become President and now GM of the OHL Bulldogs
Played 7 years in Hamilton Minor Hockey
Played Major Junior for Niagara Falls Thunder and Sudbury
Played for Team Canada at the 2008 World Championship

Hamilton Hockey Award: Pat Quinn  1943 - 2014

Both played and coached in the NHL
Reached the Stanley Cup finals twice
Won 2 Memorial Cups, 1 as a player and 1 as a minority owner
Jack Adams Award (NHL coach of the year) in 1980 and 1992.
Winter Olympic gold medal with Team Canada in 2002.
World Cup championship with Team Canada in 2004.
IIHF U18 gold medal with Team Canada in 2008.
IIHF U20 gold medal with Team Canada in 2009.
On June 9, 2005, the city of Hamilton, Ontario, honoured Quinn at a special ceremony at Parkdale Arena, on the corner of Main Street East and Parkdale Avenue North, where the arena was officially renamed the Pat Quinn Parkdale Arena.
On June 8, 2006, Quinn returned to his hometown in Hamilton to accept an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from McMaster University.
