The Hamilton Huskies Major Atom MD-Red are in the midst of a tier 2 Championship vs the Waterloo Warriors - White. The boys played the Brantford 99ers in the semis sweeping them in 2 games. Kudos to Brantford for a hard fought battle but the Huskies came out on top both games.
The team would travel to Waterloo on Tuesday March 22 for their first game....winning 1-0 with a fabulous move from #88 to deke out the warriors D and slide it over to #12 for the one timer. With solid D from all 6...and of course #29 backstopping the team...the warriors couldn't produce a tying goal. Unfortunately, the Huskies lost one of our centres to a vicious hit on the boards and is now sidelined.
The huskies would face the warriors the following night (mar 23) at Parkdale. Borh teams came playing hard and fast. With two forwards out, the team called up a minor atom player who filled in perfectly having several shots on net and a breakaway. The warriors would score the lone goal on the PP taking the second game 1-0. The kids fought back but couldn't find the net to tie it up. The huskies goalie #35, played amazing making save after save to keep his team in it.
The Huskies are in tight...but we are confident that we can bring home the championship on Saturday!
