Playoffs Begin
The Huskies Red team jumped into playoff action quickly and they have played 4 games of the 12 game round robin schedule already. However it was a rocky start for the team as they captured only one point in the first three games.
The team played two games against the Burlington Red team and the Huskies were handed two losses. Both games were disappointing efforts by the entire team as Burlington back checked better and were more aggressive on the puck. The Huskies just could not get any traction or find any sustained momentum. The two games against the Kitchener teams were much better and the last game this past weekend against Kitchener Blue which was potentially a do or die affair that could have spelled the end of the Huskies season after only 4 games. But the team came to play despite the long ride to Kitchener (or maybe because of it?) Everyone played with intensity which allowed the coaches to roll all three lines without losing any momentum. Dawson played very well in net making stops at key moments and chalking up a shutout. The Huskies (by Nate C.) only scored one goal but that's all it took. Dawson and the defense shut the door on Kitchener and the forward kept it in the Kitchener end for most of the game. And no penalty shots given up either.
Good effort team, this is the level of play that will be required to move on in the playoffs.
