Regular Season Completed
The Huskies Red team played their final game of the regular season Sunday afternoon at the Aud in Kitchener. The results of this game were not what the team hoped for, but in the end it was a season that we all can be proud of.
The Huskies played the Kitchen Blue team on their home turf, and though the game started off well for the Huskies, it did not finish that way. The team came out strong and early in the game Alex B. put in a goal from a rebound off of a shot on net by Christopher L. This came after a strong effort by Matteo B., who fought for the puck in the teams own end and passed it out to start the breakout. The game was back and forth for two periods, but in the end, the boys ran out of steam. The team played short handed for all of the game and coupled with a few luck bounces for Kitchener, it was a 4-1 loss. This put Kitchener ahead in the standings, dropping the Huskies to an overall third place finish.
But it was a taste of what is to come in the round robin playoffs for Tier 1 of the MD division. It's going to be tough going for all of the top five teams who are pretty evenly matched and who all have improved throughout the year. Hard work in the games and the remaining practices will be required to achieve positive results over the next few weeks. Our goal is to keep winning and playing hockey right up to the Spring tryouts.
