Hamilton Huskies Minor Bantam White win the John MacDonald Memorial Hockey Tournament
The coaches and players knew the first tournament of the year would be difficult as 16 quality teams were entered in the minor bantam division of the John MacDonald Memorial Tournament.
Huskies White started off strong by defeating the Burlington Bulldogs and Milton Winterhawks. Our third game was a tight affair as the Huskies White skated to a 2-1 victory over a hungry North London Nationals team. Finishing 1st in the B division meant we had a quarter final game against the Waterloo Wolves who had finished 2nd in the A division. Huskies White pulled off arguably their most complete game of the tournament by defeating the Wolves 5-0. On to the semi-finals against the reigning Alliance Tier 1 Champions, the London Bandits, and the game was a classic from the start. As the lead was passed back and forth through the first 2 periods the Huskies White took control in the 3rd and defeated the Bandits 6-3. On to the championship game against the reigning East Tier 1 champions the Cambridge Hawks. Scoreless after 1 period the Huskies White team scored late in the 2nd and early in the 3rd to go up 3-0. After the Hawks scored a power play goal the Huskies White team quickly countered with their 4th goal of the game and went on to win the championship 4-1.
Every single player contributed to Huskies White winning all 6 games scoring 32 goals and only allowing 7 against. The coaches and parents could not be more proud of this team.
