Solid game for the '05 AA Huskies
The team held there own as they battled a strong opponent in the Kitchener Rangers. The Rangers came right at the boys from the opening puck drop and attacked with strength.
You could tell that the Rangers have been together as a team for a while since they played as a unit, with a lot of skilled players who know their positions well.
But our boys worked hard to keep them out of good scoring positions and pushed them to the outside of the net. The Huskies backchecked well and staying in their positions trying to cover as much of the big ice surface as possible on the bog Red Chedoke rink.
Although the Rangers had many opportunities in the first period, the Huskies kept them scoreless and even capitalized on one of their own opportunities to take the lead 1-0 at the end of the period. But the Rangers came back with two goals of their own in the second to take the lead. There were more opportunities for the Huskies, but they could not connect on any of those, with the eventual outcome being a 4-0 loss.
However, the boys worked hard and many of them met their stated pre-game goals. Great job by Andrew in net, who saw over 30 shots and kept the team in the game right to the end.
