HOCKEY CANADA PROGRAMS
INITIATION PROGRAM (IP 6 & Under)                               NOVICE HOCKEY PROGRAM

Novice Hockey Program - Please Note: The Hockey Canada mandate for half-ice Novice hockey games takes effect for the 2019-20 season. Member Partners may choose to implement half-ice hockey sooner and the Ontario Hockey Federation and all it's Members half chosen to implement this for 7 year old Minor Novice for the 2018-19 season.

The Hamilton Huskies will be offering a Minor Novice Program (players born in 2011) at this competitive level designed to challenge Huskies eligible players who display an accelerated skill level. We are looking to register 36 players if numbers and skill level permit. From this group we will create 2 teams of 18 players. Each team will have 4 lines of 4 players, tiered by skill level, and 2 goalies. Players who wish to play goal full time are welcome and we will take a maximum of 4 dedicated goaltenders for the 2 teams. If there are not enough dedicated goaltenders, we will rotate players through the goaltender position weekly or as needed.

As per the ALLIANCE Document we will have a Development Phase, a Regular Season Phase and the Season End Festival. Teams may enter up to 3 Jamborees / Festivals throughout the season.

Please read the ALLIANCE document thoroughly as it explains the structure and game play. As well please view the Hockey Canada Novice Half-Ice Video as it gives a visual of what a game will look like.

Participant costs for this program will be $500.00 which will include 2 x 1 ½ hour ice sessions during the Development Phase. These 2 x 1 ½ hour sessions will continue through the Regular season phase in addition to ALLIANCE League play which will begin in this phase (included in the above cost).

The $500.00 cost also includes jerseys and socks, Insurance, Alliance Registration and the Year End Festival. Teams will incur team fees for the purpose of paying for extra ice for any exhibition games as well as entry to additional Jamborees / Festivals. Costs for any team apparel will also be the individuals’ responsibility.

We are in need of Coaches (Minimum 2, also Goalie Specific), Trainers (1) and Managers (1) for each of these teams. Please give this some thought as we move through the Evaluations / Tryouts

Registration for 2018-19 Season for this age group will begin during these Evaluation / Tryouts and may continue into September if spots are available.
