Finish first grouping 8-2
Knowing that the final game of the first grouping was going to be a tough one against an undefeated Woodstock team, the boys really showed up fired up and ready to go. With a bunch of boys not feeling so well the last few days This night seemed to have a little more focus and energy.
For the entire game both teams battled physically for every inch of ice and worked as hard as they could to gain an advantage. That advantage came in the third when Tyler G would put the boys in red and white up 1-0 with a beautiful shot upstairs above the Navy Vets tender. Smart positioning, being strong on the puck and keeping the Vets outside then became the focus. With the clock counting down and Brandon T. playing great and looking for the shutout things were looking good for a Huskies win. Kingston A. would then seal the deal barreling down the wing to put home the empty netter from just outside the blueline. Huskies win 2-0. The best part about the W is that all the boys contributed in this big win, they all did their part, did what they can do to help out the TEAM...and one thing is for sure, what a really close group they have become.
Next up is tier 1, probably a place none of us thought we would see back in May. How proud I am that we could at least attempt to make this jump. It really says a lot about our group and the effort everyone has put in. We know it will be very tough but we need to shoot higher than we think we can do, don't worry as much about being better than our opponents each and every game but worry about being better than ourselves each and every time we hit the ice...keep improving boys and reach as far as we can.
