Thanksgiving classic Champions
Congratulations to the Huskies Red MD team for winning the championship in the Rochester Thanksgiving Classic Tournament.
Going into the first game against the home team Rochester Americans(AA) the boys knew they had to battle hard. Huskies scored a goal in the first period and Americans scored one in the second. Both teams scored in the third period and the game ended in a 2-2 tie. The second game was against the Canandaigua Knights(AA). The Knights scored two in the first period. Huskies fought hard and scored 2 in the second and than the Knights added another. Going into the third period Huskies would score 1 more and than the Knights added another. With .52 seconds left on the clock, Huskies were awarded a penalty shot as a player from the Knights closed his hand on the puck in the crease. M.Rosser took the penalty shot and buried it in the back of the net for a 4-4 tie. Our third game was against Clarkson Hurricanes(A) team from the GTHL. Huskies had to change their style of play for this game. Huskies scored two goals in the first period and Hurricanes scored one. Huskies scored one more in the second period against Hurricanes for a 3-1 lead going into the third. Huskies scored their fourth goal 9 sec. into third and managed to get a fifth in the net. Hurricanes scored one more in the third and the game ended with a 5-2 win for the Huskies. Huskies finished 2nd overall going into the championship game with a record of 1-0-2. Going into the championship game the Huskies knew it was going to be tough against the Rochester Americans once again.
Huskies scored three goals in the first period. The Americans scored one against us in the second period but never managed to see the back of the net again. Huskies scored their fifth goal in the third period and never looked back on their way to a 5-1 win to capture the championship.
The boys played extremely well with going 2-0-2 in a strong tournament. On and off the ice the boys chemistry showed.
