The Regular Season Begins
The Huskies started off their regular season with two away games in the London region. The boys played well this weekend, but came away with two different results.

The first game on Saturday was at the Stronach Arena versus the London Junior Mustangs.  Right from the start of the game, it looked like the boys were going to have their hands full, and could not get the puck out of their own end for the entire first shift.  But they soon settled into a groove and controlled the game for the first two periods.  They played those periods with a high temp, sticking to sound fundamentals and covering the ice well.  They got plenty of  scoring chances and jumped ahead to a 3-0 lead over London.  The third period was a bit less disciplined for the team as they fell back to more individual play.  But they were able to hold off the Mustangs and keep them off the scoreboard until late in the game.  The Huskies emerged as the winners and celebrated the first game and first win of the season.
The second game of the weekend on Sunday was against the Jr. Stars in St. Thomas.  This was a much stronger team and a bigger test for the boys since the Stars have already defeated two teams handily.   The Stars showed that they were going to be a tough opponent as they controlled the play from the opening puck drop.  The Huskies had a tough time getting anything going with the Stars taking away their time and space.  St. Thomas jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the Huskies got on the board.  But scoring once and then again on a power play, the team was back into the game.  But that's when the penalty troubles began for the Huskies.  With a steady stream of Hamilton players headed for the box the Stars took advantage, scoring three more times, and handed the Huskies a 6-2 loss.

But a decent start and an entertaining weekend of hockey to start off the season.
