OSHAWA KINSMEN CUP ... FINALISTS !
The Major Midget Huskies were
finalists in the 2012 Kinsmen Cup in Oshawa this past weekend. The Huskies went
4-0 in Round Robin play.
The 1st
game was the tightest seeing the Huskies outlast and score the winning goal
with 5 minutes left in the 3rd period, to upset the heavily favored
Markham Waxers 2-1. In the 2nd game the Huskies were in tough
against a tough Quinte Red Devil squad but out worked the Devils to a 5-3
win. The host team, the Oshawa Generals were the opponent for the 3rd
game eager to hand the Huskies their first loss in front of their home crowd
but could not do so with the Huskies taking game 3 by a 4-1 score. The
final game of the Round robin was played versus the Niagara Falls Rivermen in a
game in which the Huskies controlled and completed the undefeated round by the
score of 5-2. The Whitby Wildcats would be the opponent for a Huskies
team playing in their second straight tournament Semi-Final game. After
suffering a tough semi-final loss a couple of weeks earlier in the Border City
Cup in Windsor, a determined Huskie team would not be denied a shot at a
championship game defeating the Wildcats in a very hard fought battle
5-2.
However, the Huskies did come up a little short in the final at the hands
of the same Markham Waxers they defeated in Game 1 of the RR, losing the title
game 4-0. Every one of the Huskies held their heads high after a terrific
weekend of hockey, that marks one of, if not the best finish in a tournament
for these dedicated Hamilton hockey players!! Congratulations goes out to
the 2012/2013 Hamilton Major Midget Huskies Finalists in the 2012 Oshawa
Kinsmen Cup!!!
