Hamilton played home to Huron-Perth last weekend in game six of their divisional round robin series. Nobody could have predicted a tighter semi-final battle as both teams were in a position to advance. It was the visiting team who would light the lamp first after two scoreless nail-biting periods, and it was not until the final minute of the third that a Husky flew off the bench and blindsided the Lakers' net-minder with a gift-wrapped bullet that would tie the game. The crowd could not be more entertained as the scoreboard posted an additional five to settle the difference in sudden victory. Who would have believed that those minutes could feel like forever as the clocked counted down and the whistle barely broke play. But in the final minute of OT, as a faithful Husky protected his house amid a busy crease, a heart-breaking penalty shot was awarded after an obscure infraction was called on the home team. With the game on his stick, a hand-picked sniper from the Lakers took one stride after another in the deadly silence within Chedoke Arena and sealed the Huskies' fate as the puck soared past an otherwise solid performance between the pipes.
